In a few years, Dubai has become a truly dynamic city. Everything here seems to be done to make life easier for people, more than 90% of whom are expatriates, and more and more of whom are considering staying in Dubai for several years. This is the case of Kenza, who arrived two and a half years ago from Geneva.
“Our expatriation was a conscious choice, a real turning point in our lives. We had initially envisaged it as a parenthesis of about 3 years far from our families, a duration that seemed reasonable to us. But today, as we approach this date, we don’t plan to leave at all!”
This story is the story of many expatriates, building by their mere presence, little by little, the city and the fame of Dubai.
But in this new city, a modest “village” until the 1970s before the spectacular development we know, everything is constantly moving. If expatriation is made easy thanks to accelerated procedures, a certain apprehension remains among newcomers regarding certain rights and access, especially in the field of health.
“We arrived with an 18-month-old baby, born in Geneva. The question of health insurance arose even before we settled in because I wanted to be sure that our whole family would be taken care of as soon as we arrived. I didn’t want to take the risk of not having the right insurance provider, especially for the conditions regarding the follow-up of a possible second pregnancy, which finally happened a few months after our installation. Here, the health care network is excellent but the culture of care is a little different, more medicalized than in Switzerland. I needed a provider who could guide me, advise me at all times, while benefiting from a broad coverage of my medical care” explains Kenza.
Kenza then discovered Opal:
“For me, Opal corresponded in every way to my expectations: a 360° coverage for all the pregnancy and childbirth follow-up, the reimbursement of physio sessions, dentist fees, and even our Covid tests when they were medically necessary. All this, with a contact person I can call at any time if I have any questions, and a very easy to use application that allows me to enter the bills in two seconds. And, finally, a very quick refund, which is a huge added value.”
Today Kenza’s entire family is insured under one policy, making things even easier for these expats who are, for the time being, not ready to leave the magic of Dubai yet!
