In Australia Medicare is equivalent to the French social security. Only Australian citizens and permanent residents are entitled to it. Medicare is a State body that refunds medical fees (general practitioners, some specialist doctors, hospitalization fees…). Panel doctors must apply the rates set by Medicare i.e. Medicare Schedule Fees. In this case Medicare covers 75% of the price applied.
